Manual winding
For a manual winding leave the crown in the watch case and turn it to the direction which shows a slight resistance. Wind the watch until you feel an increasing resistance of the crown.
An automatic watch with the option of manual winding should only be wound until the hands move. In general, automatic watches should be wound by the rotor while being worn and only be actuated manually after a longer period of not being worn. For automatic watches the use of a watch winder, which keeps the spring in an optimal stress state by permanently moving the watch, is helpful.
